WHO REALLY ARE IBIBIO PEOPLE?
The Ibibio people (English: /ɪbɪˈbiːəʊ/) are a coastal people in southern Nigeria. They are mostly found in Akwa Ibom and Cross River States. They are related to the Efik people. During the colonial period in Nigeria, the Ibibio Union asked for recognition by the British as a sovereign nation.
Ibibio is a large collection of subgroups. These includes Annang, Ekit, Oron, Obolo, Ibeno, Efik etc.

To understand the scope, it’s important to note the definition of Ethnic.
(ethnic group) A group comprise people sharing a common culture (beliefs, values, language and religious ancestry. It could as well associated with characteristic mostly handed down from one generation to the next. They mostly live close to one another.
It also denotes, of or belonging to a population group or subgroup made up of people who share a common cultural background or descent.
IBIBIO IN THIS CASE, IS THE POPULATION GROUP THAT ENCOMPASSES OTHER SUB-GROUPS.
